Announcement: October 11, 2006 – Waypoint Launches New Release of Waypoint Panorama™, The Online Mapping and Analysis Platform, with SuperLayer™ Architecture
Waypoint is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Release 2 of Waypoint Panorama™, the Online Mapping and Analysis Platform. This software release incorporates Waypoint’s new SuperLayer™ Architecture, offering users unprecedented and precise control over spatial data.
Advanced SuperLayer™ Architecture
Unlike systems that support static base-maps and a simple overlay of a thematic layer, the Panorama map engine groups related map layers into “SuperLayers”. Each SuperLayer or map layer within a SuperLayer can be turned on or off using the new Layer Control Pane. An on-screen transparency tool allows any SuperLayer or map layer to be made partially transparent on-the-fly, facilitating multi-layer thematic analysis.
Data Uploading Capability
Users can upload their own map data into the Custom SuperLayer that is sandwiched between Panorama's Map SuperLayer (detailed roads, rivers, place names, and points of interest) and Imagery SuperLayer (detailed satellite, elevation, photo and associated imagery).
Interactive Multi-user Collaboration
The Interactive SuperLayer is a fourth SuperLayer on top that allows objects to be created and displayed on-the-fly, and can display objects from external databases. Graphic objects or their attributes can be selected, moved or edited onscreen, enabling powerful multi-user collaboration on a single hosted file. For each object, hyperlinks to multimedia content can be established (such as pictures, documents, or movies).
New Map Publishing Features
The new Project Explorer Pane allows users to easily select the particular map data set they require. Within any map project, Panorama™ allows the detailed set of parameters associated with any number of map views to be saved for future reference. A powerful Cross Section Tool allows detailed multi-layer cross sections to be quickly selected, calculated and displayed.
